NEW ORLEANS -- Mayor Mitch Landrieu says he's looking forward to working with the newly elected members of the New Orleans City Council.

In Saturday's election, Latoya Cantrell took 54 percent of the District B vote in a win over Dana Kaplan. James Gray defeated Austin Badon with 58 percent of the vote in District E.

'I think it's really important that they learn how to work together, that they trust each other and again they seek common ground,' Landrieu said. 'That's really the thing that matters in the city. The only thing that's going to help us get better is partnerships.'

Landrieu said he also wants to move past the recent squabbles with some of the other council members and work together to build a better city.
