TERRYTOWN, La. - A 48-year-old man was arrested after deputies said he shot and hit another man driving in a car in a case of road rage Friday afternoon.

The incident occurred around noon near the intersection of Terry Parkway and Carol Sue.

According to the sheriff's office. two JPSOofficers were in that area when they heard what they thought were gunshots.

A few seconds later they saw a man inside of a grey Pontiac Grand Am who flagged them down and said he had been shot by a man in a grey pickup.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and treated or a non-life threatening injury.

Deputies said the victim told them that he was driving down Terry Parkway when a man in a pickup pulled up behind him and began honking his horn and making angry gestures. The victim said he pulled into a nearby gas station where he and the suspect, identified as Carl Mitchell of Gretna, got into an argument.

The victim told police that he got back into his car and was driving down Terry Parkway and Mitchell continued to follow him. The victim said he stopped for a traffic light at the intersection of Carol Sue and Mitchell got out of his pickup, walked up to his car and began firing.
