HOUSTON -- CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora is reporting that safety Ed Reed has agreed to a deal with the Houston Texas.

The website says it's not completely done and is not official, but that all the major issues are worked out. They're just some minor language that has to be worked out.

Reed, a St. Rose native and Destrehan High School grad, was likely too pricey for the cap-strapped Saints. La Canfora reports the final deal will average between $5 million and $6 million a year.

The likely Hall of Famer had spent his entire career in Baltimore before winning his first SuperBowl in February.
