HOUMA, La. - Houma Police chased a pony around the Maple Street neighborhood this morning before reuniting it with its owner.
With the help of a man who raises livestock in the area, they were able to lure the pony into a trailer and drive it to the Houma Police station, Lt. Dana Coleman said. Word got around, and the owner called police and picked up his pony a few hours later.
The pony, named Jack, was in the owner's trailer at his home on McKinley and escaped, Coleman said. The pony was not injured or malnourished.
'This pony was healthy,' Coleman said. 'I own horses myself. As soon as I laid eyes on it, I thought, 'This belongs to somebody.' '
Police were called to do something about Jack, who had been wandering around Maple Street Park and through yards, about 6 this morning.
The pony's owner said his grandson was crying and didn't want to go to school this morning because the pony was gone, Coleman said.
