MARRERO, La. - Two separate shooting took place within an hour and less than a mile from each other in Marrero Monday night, according to the Jefferson ParishSheriff's Office.

Around 10 p.m., deputies responded to shots fired in the 1500 block of Ames Boulevard.

Kendrick Richburg, 18, of New Orleans was discovered lying unconscious in the courtyard of the New Chateaux Apartments, according to the sheriff's office.

He had a gunshot to his upper body and his left thumb, the sheriff office said. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

More than a dozen bullet casings were located near the victim's body as well as throughout the courtyard.

Then, around 10:40 p.m., a double shooting occurred in the 1900 block of Charleston Drive.

Two men received non-life threatening injuries, the sheriff's office said.

Investigators attempted to determine a motive and suspect in both cases. Anyone with information on either shooting should call 364-5300 or Crimestoppers at 822-1111.
