New Orleans, La. -- NOPD is currently investigating a triple stabbing in New Orleans East that left one man dead and two others injured early Sunday morning.

Shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday, a 33-year-old man and two of his friends were involved in an altercation with two unknown men in a parking lot in the 4600 block of Michoud blvd.

One of the suspects stabbed the 33-year-old man in the chest and abdomen with a knife. He was transported to the hospital where he later died.

The second victim, a 35-year-old man, suffered a stab wound to the abdomen. He was transported to the hospital by EMS and is listed in stable condition.

One of the suspects cut the third victim, a 32-year-old man, on his forearm with a broken bottle. He was also transported to the hospital by EMS, where he will be treated for his injury then released.

The names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of family members. Investigators are gathering evidence to identify the suspects and establish a motive.
