UPDATE, January 11, 2014: On Saturday night, the New Orleans Police Department said Orshoski was found alive and well. NOPD has not released any further details in this investigation.
NEWORLEANS-- Saturday will mark a week since the family of a missing New Orleans man last had contact with him and now a veterans group is planning a search for Jeffrey Orshoski over the weekend.
Eyewitness News spoke to one of the 41-year-old's family member. 'It's a living nightmare. There's no worry like not knowing where your loved one is,' said Jeff's sister Juli Russ via a Skype interview from Michigan.
It has been almost seven days since Orshoski's family last had contact with the Entergy worker by email. They say it was from his house in the 800 block of Race Street.
'Jeff is one of the most responsible people you would ever meet in your life. He would not just not show up for work,' said Russ.
The Navy veteran's family says he moved to New Orleans in May to work at the power company's nuclear plant, but hasn't shown up to work all week. Since a missing person's report was filed with police little clues have surfaced about the 41-year-old's whereabouts. Orshoski's family say detectives are looking at his phone and bank records to try and pinpoint where he might be.
'Jeff is a fun guy, he's very well liked. I've been receiving more messages then I can count from friends who I've never met, telling me how wonderful he is. Their children love him,' added Russ.
As the hours turn into days and soon a week, Jeff's big sister says his family is ready to come to New Orleans. They're holding out hope that his sudden and uncharacteristic disappearance doesn't turn into something sinister.
'We miss him, we love him and we're just really hoping and praying for his safe return,' said Russ.
The NOPD says Orshoski's car is missing. It is a red 2013 Ford Taurus SHO with South Carolina the license plate HVY208. If you have any information Orshoski's whereabouts call, Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
Entergy issued this statement: 'We are aware that one of our employees, Jeffrey Orshoski, has been reported as missing to local authorities. We are coordinating with law enforcement in an effort to aid their search. Our thoughts are with Jeff and his family as we pray for his quick and safe return home.'
