NEW ORLEANS -- The Press Park house is stunning. The roof has caved in, the side walls are detaching.

The neighbors are past fed up. They're now afraid.

'I'm scared,' said Ernest Thibodeaux. 'I'm scared for the neighborhood, for that house across the street. As you can see, it's falling down.'

'It's very frightening,' added Michele Colbert. 'One o'clock about a couple of weeks ago, the roof started caving in, and we jumped because it is so frightening.'

Michele lives next door to the collapsing house. She and her neighbors are afraid someone will get hurt.

'The kids play along here,' she said. 'I have grand kids that live here. We're afraid for them to play outside.'

City records indicate the structure was inspected and a case opened last April, with hearings held in May and July.

'I called the city a couple of times,' said Ernest. 'They came out. Like I said, I heard they had hearings, and everything on it. What happened after that, I don't know. I thought the city would have come over here and torn it down, but I don't know what's going on with it.'

The neighbors say they hear bangs and creaks and groans as more pieces of the house collapse. So I'm contacting the mayor's office and the New Orleans Department of Code Enforcement, asking them for an emergency demolition, because the neighbors are worried about the rest of this coming down.

'It needs to be torn down and removed,' concluded Ernest. 'I'm afraid that somebody's going to get hurt, that's what I'm afraid of.'

I'll let you know what happens.
