SLIDELL, La. A man is in critical condition after his Jeep struck a school bus before entering a nearby parking lot and slamming into a parked car and flipping over.

The incident occurred in a parking lot off of Pontchartrain Drive in Slidell around 11 a.m.

According to Slidell Police spokesman Daniel Seuzeneau, the driver, whose name has not been released, was driving the Jeep in a 'reckless' manner on southbound Pontchartrain Drive when it clipped the school bus, which did not have any children inside, crossed onto the northbound side of the street and entered the parking lot of a hardware store.

The Jeep then slammed into a parked car and flipped over, landing on top of two other cars. No one was in any of the parked cars at the time.

The driver of the Jeep was rushed to University Hospital in New Orleans. He is listed as critical. Police said they don't know why the Jeep was being driven in an erratic manner, nor how fast it was traveling. Seuzeneau said it doesn't appear that the driver was wearing a seat belt. He has no idea if drugs or alcohol were involved.
