This week a woman is going on trial for false swearing because she allegedly accused a cab driver of taking an indecent video of her and then blackmailing her with it.

The accusation against Jennifer Gaubert is something the District Attorney's Office has seen before, as in 2010, Eyewitness Investigates broke the story of an angry tenant who made up charges against a landlord that evicted her.

In that case, our story led police to reopen the case, and the tenant was eventually convicted.

District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro joins the Eyewitness Morning News to discuss the problems this kind of abuse of the criminal justice system can cause.
