Five months after Frank Davis passed away, state lawmakers have voted to name the Twin Spans after the WWL-TV icon. Now one last step is needed to make the honor a reality.

'Po'boys, snoballs, beignets, Mardi Gras parades. Fishing. Crabbing on the Lakefront,' are just some of the New Orleans staples Steven Bel can name as local traditions. On the list: Frank Davis.

'Good morning everybody welcome to my kitchen,' those words were ones Davis shared for decades with viewers on Eyewitness Morning News. Davis also entertained fans with his 'Fishin' Game Report' and 'Naturally N'Awlins' features.

One of Frank's stops Sal's Snoballs in Old Metairie where Bel has worked since he was eight-years-old.

'That's why they liked Frank. He did fun things. He had the best job,' laughed Bel.

Now the New Orleans native who passed away last December is steps closer to being immortalized in concrete.

'I wish I could be the first one to go over the bridge,' said his wife, Mary Clare hearing about the honor that will soon be bestowed on her late husband.

On Wednesday, state lawmakers voted 90 to 0 in favor of naming the I-10 Twin Spans 'The Frank Davis Naturally N'Awlins' Memorial Bridge. The honor brining his wife to tears when Eyewitness News spoke with her over the phone from Texas.

'He would be so, so happy and I know he's looking down and he's seeing this. I hope,' said Mary Clare.

The nearly 6-mile bridge hasn't been named until now.

'He did a lot for the city. He was a good PR person for the vity, added Bel about the honor Davis will soon receive.

With the bill headed to the Governor's Office for final approval, the Davis family can't wait to witness firsthand a very special bridge naming dedication for a N'Awlins great.

'I'm so proud of my husband and thank you, thank you, thank you for everything,' said Mary Clare.

Senator A.G. Crowe who introduced the legislation has asked for a ceremonial signing of the bill.

According to a spokesperson Gov. Bobby Jindal plans on signing off on it.
