NEW ORLEANS- The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a double shooting that happened Saturday afternoon in Gert Town.

Police say just after noon officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 1300 block of South Salcedo Street.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the two victims, a 16-year-old male and a 24-year-old male, were standing in the street when a black SUV carrying two African-American males pulled up and opened fire.

Police say the two victims were transported to the hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time.

The investigation into this shooting is ongoing.Police ask anyone with information on this incident to call CRIMESTOPPERS at 822-1111.
