LAROSE, La. -- Aman trying to walk across a highway died after he was hit by a truck Sunday morning, according to Louisiana State Police.

It happened just after 1 a.m. on Hwy. 657 in Larose.

According to Louisiana State Police, a 38-year-old man tried to cross the highway just north of Hwy. 308 when he walked into the path of a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado traveling southbound. The man, who hasn't been identified, was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, 32-year-old Elmer Lagos, is not facing any charges. He passed a breathalyzer test and was uninjured in the crash.

A toxicology test is pending for the victim. He won't be identified until his family is notified.
