NEW ORLEANS, La. -- One person was killed and seven others were shot in seven separate instances within 18 hours, over another violent weekend in the city of New Orleans.

One death was reported in the 1400 block of North Robertson Street. According to police, the body of a 58-year-old woman was found in a vacant lot at the location at around 6 a.m. Sunday morning. The woman had multiple stab wounds to her body, as currently there is no word on a suspect or motive.

Seven other people were shot over the weekend in at least six separate shootings.

The violence started at around 6 p.m. Saturday evening when a 24-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 12100 block of the I-10 Service Road in New Orleans East. Police say the victim was sitting outside when an unknown vehicle pulled up and the driver started shooting at the victim. The victim was taken in a private car to the hospital and was said to be stable.

Then at 7 p.m. Saturday night, a 17-year-old was shot at the intersection of North Rocheblave and Allen Street in the 7th Ward. He is reportedly in critical condition.

Nearly two hours later, just before 9 p.m., two adult women were shot in the 3500 block of Paris Avenue. According to NOPD spokesman Officer Frank Robertson, the women were sitting on the porch of a residence when shots rang out. Both women were shot several times and were taken to the hospital where they were said to be stable.

On Sunday, the violence started just before 1 a.m., as police say a 17-year-old woman was shot multiple times in the 7100 block of Bunker Hill. She was taken to the hospital and was listed as stable.

One hour later, around 2 a.m. police reported a shooting in the 5000 block of Frenchmen Street. NOPD says an 18-year-old man was inside of his residence when bullets pierced through the walls. The victim was hit by a bullet, but police say his injuries are not life-threatening.

In Gert Town, a 26-year-old man is in critical condition, after being shot at the busy intersection of South Carrollton Avenue and Olive Street, just after Noon on Sunday.
