LSU's athletics department will present an expansion of Tiger Stadium to the university's Board of Supervisors at its next meeting, officials said Wednesday.

The proposed expansion will add nearly 60 suites and 3,000 club-level seats above the south end zone. Nearly 1,500 general public seats will be built above the new suite and club levels.

Funding for the project will be through the Tiger Athletic Foundation, similar to the expansions in 2000 of the east side and the 2005 renovation of the west side. A $100 million bond will be requested to fund the expansion as well as to address facility needs for non-revenue sports, senior associate athletic director Herb Vincent said.

'When things are going well, you can either move forward or you can fall behind,' athletic director Joe Alleva said. 'We are choosing to advance the athletics program so that it can remain a viable and successful part of the mission of our university.'

The other facility needs that will be addressed include a new tennis facility and a new gymnastics practice facility.

If approved at the April 27 Board meeting, completion of the expansion is expected prior to the 2014 season. Capacity at Tiger Stadium will balloon to near 100,000.
