BATONROUGE, La. -- The Advocate, the Baton Rouge-based newspaper, is in talks with a possible buyer for the newspaper, the paper is reporting.

According to the Advocate's web story, 'Richard Manship, president and CEO of Capital City Press, said the interested party is a private individual, not a chain,' leaving that individual unnamed.

Manship said, however, no 'specific' offer for the paper has been made, nor is he sure if a bid for the newspaper would be forthcoming. 'If an offer is made, Manship said he expects it would come in the next couple of weeks,' said the story.

The Baton Rouge television station, WBRZ, which is also owned by Capital City Press isn't for sale, Manship told the Advocate.

The Advocate recently stepped into the New Orleans market when the the Times-Picayune cut publishing back to three days per week.
