NEWORLEANS- Two more teenagers - ages 16 and 18 - were arrested Thursday night in connection with the kidnap, robbery and rape of a Garden District woman earlier this week.

The arrests came hours after a 15-year-old turned himself in after his family saw his picture on television.

The name of the 15-year-old and 16-year-old suspects have not been released, the 18-year-old is identified as Christopher Davis. All were booked with aggravated rape, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery and aggravated armed robbery.

NOPDspokeswoman Remi Braden said the 16-year-old was picked up around 6:30 pm at his home and Davis was located a few blocks from his home a short time later.

Serpas said the break in the case happened when the 15-year-old suspect's family saw a surveillance imageof him through local media.

'This was a ruthless, treacherous, cruel, violent attack, but I cannot tell you how grateful Iam to the family of this young man who turned himself in this morning. His family saw his picture. His family brought him in today to be held accountable for his crimes. That is how we can turn the tide on crime in this city,' Serpas said.

The suspect confessed to the crime, according to Serpas.

Serpas said the 15-year-old suspect has a 'very minor' criminal record and called the incident a 'crime of opportunity.' He hopes that the suspects will be tried as adults.

Wednesday, police recovered the victim's car and later announced they were searching for a person of interest in the case. A picture was released to the media, leading to the young man turning himself in.

Tips flowed into Crimestoppers in the high profile case that has shaken the neighborhood. The NOPD assigned a special task force to the area until the perpetrators were caught.

Police recovered the victim's silver Honda Accord. It was found abandoned in the 800 block of North Dorgenois by a police officer around 7 a.m.

The victim in the case was abducted from the 1200 block of Eighth Street at gunpoint and was driven around and sexually assaulted. She was brought back to the area and let out, though the suspects robbed her and stole her car.
