Governor Bobby Jindal says the dredging operation in the northern Chandeuleur island resumed Monday around 2 p.m.

The operation had been shut down last Tuesday by the Army Corps of Engineers who said the state was not taking the dredge material from the approved site.

The pipe was moved and the dredging resumed Monday afternoon.

The halting of the dredging was a sore subject for Jindal and leaders of parishes in southeastern Louisiana.
