COVINGTON, La. - A pickup truck, whose driver claimed she could not see because she did not defrost her windshield, hit a tree and post before driving through a large window of a Whitney Bank in Covington on Thursday, according to the Covington Police Department.
Around 4 a.m. police received an anonymous call reporting that the driver of the truck was trying to get away from the scene at 21st Avenue and Jefferson Street.
When investigators arrived, they discovered that if not for the tree and the post, the 1999 Chevy Silverado would have been driven though the lobby of the bank from the Jefferson Street side.
Mary E. Sharp, 59, said she was on her way to Walgreens when she was blinded by lights at the intersection due to her frosted windshield, according to police.
Sharp was not injured.
