NEW ORLEANS -- The Crescent City has football fever, and folks who depend on visitors for a living are cashing in.

Fans in town for the big Saints-Lions playoff Saturday night in the Superdome helped fill the All-star Brass Band's tip box Friday afternoon in Jackson Square.

'If you like the band, tip us,' said band manager Raymond Bell. 'If you don't like the band tip us anyway. I think they appreciate us.'

There were also a few Lions fans spending a little green in the land of the black and gold.

'We've been over to the casino and we've eaten every night, seafood and everything,' said Lansing, Michigan native David Dameron. 'It's been great. There's hardly any Lions fans down here right now, but we're going to make up for it. We're going to spend all our money here in downtown New Orleans.'

The pedicab drivers appreciate the business, especially during what is normally a slow time of the year in New Orleans.

'We anticipate this weekend to be a tremendous opportunity for all the service industry, particularly us pedicab drivers,' said Chad Boutte from Need-A-Ride Pedicab.

Rommel's catering in Metairie spent the day preparing gumbo and other local favorites for Saints parties across the area.

'Any time these football teams are winning it definitely increases the volume of business for us,' said Chef Rommel Hernandez. 'People love to eat while they're watching the game. It's been insane. A lot of calls and a lot of business all at once which is great.'

The Saints game is also giving some local charities an opportunity to do some fundraising this weekend. Saturday night, the Orpheus organization is holding an viewing party at Generations Hall in the Warehouse District to benefit the George Rodrique Foundation for the Arts.

'We're opening up at 6:30, so we can be ready for the game at 7,' said Orpheus Captain Sonny Borey. 'Then we'll be broadcasting the game the entire night over the TVs that are in the building.'

Regardless of the outcome of the games this weekend, New Orleans is already a big winner.
