NEW ORLEANS More than a week after New Orleans Police turned over the report on the Wendell Allen shooting case, District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro is putting together all the facts and evidence to decide how to move forward with the case.

Allen was shot to death by NOPD officer Joshua Colclough during an execution of a search warrant. Allen was not armed.

Cannizzaro said this morning a case like this takes time.

'We will handle this homicide as we do every other homicide,' Cannizzaro said. 'So you do see it as a homicide? Yes ma'am, there was a killing of a human being and that is something we have to investigate. We in all likelihood based on some of the preliminary information Orleans Parish grand jury in the upcoming future.'

Cannizzaro also discussed the other recent New Orleans Police-involved shooting, where a traffic stop wound up with two police officers critically wounded, a man shot to death and his brother wounded.

The district attorney said his office is still gathering all the information in that case to determine exactly what happened in that police shooting.
