JEFFERSON, La -- All lanes on the Huey P. Long Bridge will be closed from Friday, August 3 at 10pm until noon on Saturday, August 4. The left lanes for both directions will remain closed and large trucks will not be allowed on the bridge until 5am on Monday, August 6.

The lanes will be closed in order to pour concrete for wider lanes on the bridge. The finished bridge will have three new lanes in both directions and wider shoulders. The project will more than double the bridge's width from the current 18 feet to a 43-foot surface.

It is suggested that drivers use the Crescent City Connection or the I-310 Bridge at Luling during the work time.

The project is scheduled for completion in 2013.
