An Abita Springs Iraq war veteran died Saturday morning after being shot by police. According the St. Tammany Sheriff's Office, the shooting happened Friday night while they were responding to a domestic violence call at the veteran's house.

Police say Jason Glover, who was armed with a handgun, had treatened to kill his girlfriend.

When police arrived at the house at around 11 p.m., they found Glover sitting in his vehicle outside of the home. Police noticed he was armed with a gun as he was getting out of the vehicle. At that point, police ordered him to drop his weapon, an order which he ignored, police said. He instead raised his gun and aimed it at one of the deputies. The deputy then fired his gun, striking Glover twice.
