SLIDELL, La. A woman was killed Sunday evening in Slidell when she couldn't get away from a moving train fast enough, authorities said.

The car the woman was driving somehow got stuck on the tracks as she was crossing near the intersection of Front and Lafayette streets, Slidell Police said Monday morning.

When she saw the train coming, she attempted to run from it but couldn't get away fast enough as she and the car were both hit, police said.

The accident happened shortly before 9:30 Sunday night. The woman's identity has not been released.
