SLIDELL, La. - A motorist discovered the body of an apparent hit and run victim in the grass along I-10 about three miles from the Louisiana-Mississippi border Wednesday afternoon.
According to State Police spokesman Mike Edmonson, the motorist found the victim, described as a black male approximately 60 years old, off the westbound lanes of I-10.
Troopers believe the crash that killed the man occurred around 2 a.m. as the victim was walking near or on the right white 'fog line' when he was struck and killed by an unknown vehicle.
Police don't know if the victim was impaired, pending a toxicology test.
