OAKDALE, La. -- Former Rep. Bill Jefferson has been transferred from a low-security federal prison in Texas to a federal prison camp in Oakdale to serve out the remainder of his 13-year sentence.
In 2007, Jefferson, 66, was indicted on 17 charges, including bribery, racketeering and honest services fraud.
Two years later, a Virginia jury convicted him of 11 of the 16 charges.
With time off for good behavior, Jefferso, is scheduled to be released in August 2023.
