NEWORLEANS- Police arrested a man after he allegedly fired several shots into paintings on display near Jackson Square Sunday.

The incident occurred around 5 p.m.

Eric Wilson, 41, of Hiram, Georgia, was arrested for five counts of aggravated criminal damage, illegal discharge of a firearm and illegal carrying of a firearm.

According to police spokesperson Remi Braden, Wilson pulled out a Taurus Revolver and fired five shots into five different paintings.

Braden said an officer was on the scene within minutes as concerned citizens flagged him down and pointed out Wilson walking nearby.

Wilson was searched and police said they found the handgun, which contained five spent casings.

Police said there was no word on Wilson's possible motive.
