Larose, La. - Two men have been arrested after allegedly attempting to rob a Romanian shipyard worker in Larose, according to Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Chief Deputy Bud Dill.

Both men, Glen Wilson and Spenser Dominque, both 17, were charged with hate crimes, attempted robbery and aggravated assault.

Vasile Sular, 51, was walking to the Larose Truck Stop from North American Shipyard, when he was confronted by two men who tried to rob him, police said.  Sular ran and was picked up by a witness who saw him running and begging for help.

The witness, police said, called Lafourche police.

Police detained Wilson and Dominque after a short foot chase, police said, adding that Sular was able to identify the men.

The suspects, according to Dill, had been harassing Romanian workers at the shipyard, and he also said that many Romanian workers live at the shipyard in dormitory-style housing.
