An unidentified male was shot and killed in Algiers, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

The shooting happened around 12:40 a.m. Sunday, at an apartment building in the 3300 block of Garden Oaks Drive, which is off General DeGualle Drive in Algiers.

Fourth District Police responded to a call of a shooting.  At the scene, police found the victim lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head.  He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Investigators are gathering evidence and information to determine the motive. Detectives determined the suspect was a Hispanic male who fled in a silver colored truck, possibly a Chevrolet Silverado.
