Husband and wife collide on motorcycles in Terrebonne, killing wife
04:11 PM CDT on Sunday, May 11, 2008
A husband and wife were riding motorcycles together when they collided, resulting in the death of the wife.
The couple from Gray, La., Robert Doggett, 54, and Bonnie Doggett, 61, was riding northbound on LA 24 with Mr. Doggett riding ahead and to the right of his wife.
When Mr. Doggett made a left on to Elgin Street Bridge, Mrs. Doggett locked up her front tire and skidded into her husband’s motorcycle. Both riders were thrown from their motorcycles; both were wearing novelty, non-DOT-approved helmets, according to state police.
Mrs. Doggett sustained head injuries and was taken to Terrebonne General Medical Center in critical condition, where she later died. Mr. Doggett had minor injuries.
State police suspect alcohol use, pending analysis. An investigation is ongoing.
