JPSO arrest two cousins in Causeway bank robbery, look for two suspects

Two men who allegedly held up the Capital One in the 2200 block of North Causeway Boulevard Thursday afternoon were arrested Thursday evening and police are looking for two suspects who were in the getaway car, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.

At approximately 1 p.m., two men entered the bank and announced a robbery. Bank security cameras caught photos of the two robbers. The robbers fled with an undetermined amount of cash, according to a statement from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

One man was armed with a black semi-automatic handgun, and the suspects fled north on Causeway Boulevard.

A day after the robbery, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested two men and have warrants for two other men.

According to a press release, the sheriff’s office through the course of an investigation identified Kenneth Spears, 17, New Orleans, and Kelly Spears, 17, New Orleans as the alleged robbers. The Spears, who are cousins, are listed by the sheriff’s office as having the same address.

According to police, the pair agreed to go with detectives back to Jefferson Parish for questioning about the robbery; both admitted to the robbery. 

Kenneth Spears admitted to being the gunman who approached the teller with a note demanding money, according to the sheriff’s office’s press release.

During the investigation, Jefferson Parish Detectives identified two other suspects that helped in the crime and remain at-large.

Jeffery Bradley, 47, and Jamal Williams, 26, both with New Orleans addresses, allegedly waited outside in the getaway car while Kenneth and Kelly Spears robbed the bank.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Bradley or Williams is asked to contact Detective Dave Mascaro at 364-5300 or Crimestoppers.

Kenneth Spears and Kelly Spears were booked with one count each for the charge of armed robbery.

Arrests warrants have been issued for both Jeffrey Bradley and Jamal Williams for the charge of armed robbery.
