A man begging for money on the side of the road was a fugitive who had escaped from prison in St. Gabriel, according to New Orleans Police, who arrested him Friday.
According to NOPD spokesperson Shereese Harper, 54-year-old Ronnie McCastle was arrested in the 700 block of Orleans Avenue for begging.
While investigating his background, officers found McCastle has escaped from the Hunts Correctional Facility in Saint Gabriel.
