At the Aamco Building on Poydras Street, District Attorney Landrum-Johnson said that she is seeking the section vacated by Judge Calvin Johnson who is retiring.

The race for District Attorney is already a crowded one, as defense attorney Jason Williams announced Tuesday his candicacy for the District Attorney's Office and Linda Bizzarro, Ralph Capitelli and Leon Cannizzaro are already in the race.

District Attorney Landrum-Johnson took over for Eddie Jordan when Jordan resigned in November of 2007, and she worked in the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office for the last ten years, serving as Assistant District Attorney, a homicide and sex crimes screener, chief of juvenile, chief of screening, and interim-First Assistant District Attorney.

“We have reached a critical moment in the rebuilding process in New Orleans.  Citizen trust and participation in the local justice system must be pursued and preserved.  As a judge, I will uphold fairness while maintaining an efficient and transparent courtroom.  I want the citizens of New Orleans to believe in this justice system,” said District Attorney Landrum-Johnson in a press release.
