MERRYVILLE, La. -- A 52-year-old Florida man has been booked with obscenity after he was found roaming nude near a Louisiana highway.

Authorities say a motorist traveling U.S. Highway 190 near Merryville on Monday spotted Michael L. Prophet and turned around to try to see if he needed medical attention, but found that he had

disappeared.

Beauregard Parish sheriff's deputies say the motorist called authorities, who later found a tent and a bicycle and found Prophet still nude lying on the ground behind a tree.

When officers asked Prophet why he was nude, police say he told officers he had sexual urges he couldn't control and that he would stand on the side of the road nude while vehicles passed.

He was booked into the Beauregard Parish Jail.
