Police said Chestnut approached the victims as they waited in the drive-thru lane at this Arby's in Metairie.

Police said Wayne Hayden was one of two men suspected in the murder of 60-year-old Odrey Bordelon, who was found strangled June 5. Hayden, 50, drove himself to the Kenner Police Complex at around 11:30 p.m. after seeing his picture in the news media. He was booked with first-degree murder and aggravated burglary.

The second suspect in the murder, Carl Chestnut, was arrested early Monday after being shot while allegedly trying to carjack a mother and son at a fast food restaurant.

Chestnut, 44, remains in the hospital following the shooting at a Metairie Arby’s, police said.

According to authorities, the victims were in their car waiting to place an order when Chestnut walked up to the vehicle and pointed a gun at them. The women’s teenage son was able to pry the gun away and shot Chestnut several times.

Chestnut’s injuries were not life-threatening, police said. He’s expected to be booked with murder once he’s released.
