St. John Parish police made an arrest in connection with a shooting that took place Thursday in Garyville, the sheriff’s office said.

Around 2 p.m., St. John police responded to a call of several shots fired in the 100 block of Sherman Walker Street.

When police arrived they found the driver of a Toyota Camry who had been shot multiple times and a passenger who was also hit a single time in the shoulder, police said. A rear passenger in the car was not struck by any bullets.

St. John police said Michael Taylor was killed from the multiple gunshot wounds in the shooting and Trevor Anderson, 29, was treated and released from the hospital.

Following the shooting police received some tips that the suspect in the shooting was in a residence near the shooting, but they were unable to locate the shooter, police said.

Later Thursday evening, witnesses assisted St. John investigators to identify Weber through a six-man photographic lineup and warrants were issued for his arrest, police said.

Through a tip that Weber was in the Belle Point Subdivision in Laplace, police were able to arrest him, according to St. John police.

Investigators said that two weapons were recovered in a garbage can in the 100 block of Sherman Walker Street.
