A small afternoon fire momentarily shut down a wing of a Jefferson Parish nursing home Thursday.

The fire happened just before 4:30 a.m. at the St. Anthony Nursing Home in the 6000 block of Airline drive. Fire officials said a mattress inside one of the rooms caught fire, causing smoke to fill the hallway of one of the home’s wings.

While 50 people were evacuated from the building and moved to a different part of the facility, no one was injured.
