In Jefferson Parish, the Timberlane subdivision will be incorporated into the city of Gretna. It was a move that was opposed by nearby residents of the Bellemeade subdivision who fear that with incorporation, Timberlane residents will be able to block off a road that takes traffic through the neighborhood and thus send more traffic into the Bellemeade neighborhood.
And in St. John Parish, the Garyville area will not become its own town after a measure to do just that was voted down.
