Livingston Parish Sheriff's Deputy Perry Rushing says 37-year-old Allen Newell of Maurice was hospitalized in Baton Rouge for treatment. He did not know Newell's condition on Monday.
He says bond was set Monday at $26,000 for 29-year-old Chaney Lee Dawson of Baton Rouge and at $25,500 for 23-year-old Dillon J. Dawson of Livingston.
According to Rushing, Newell told deputies that the Dawsons were harassing his teenage niece on Saturday, and the fight started when he asked them to leave her alone.
The Dawsons were booked on one count each of simple battery and second-degree aggravated battery. Chaney Dawson's bond was $500 higher because of a warrant for an unpaid ticket.
