Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a hit-and-run accident that left a 46-year-old man dead in Harvey.

Fatal accident in Harvey

The accident happened just before 5 a.m. near the intersection of Lapalco and Industrial Boulevards.

The man, who was a pedestrian, was struck by a white SUV, possibly a Ford Explorer or Expedition, Sheriff Newell Normand said.

Witnesses believe the first three numbers on the license plate of the suspect may have been 189.  The SUV was last seen fleeing West on Lapalco.
