Jimmy Fahrenholtz

Fahrenholtz, a Orleans Parish School Board member, said on qualification papers that he did not have any outstanding campaign finance fines from running for school board, however the judge found he does have fines still out against him.

Civil district court judge Nadine Ramsey issued the decision, which followed a brief hearing on a lawsuit seeking to disqualify Fahrenholtz.

He is expected to ask the Fourth District Circuit Court of Appeal to overturn Ramsey’s ruling in an attempt to put his name back on the ballot.

Fahrenholtz entered the race along with a slew of candidates who are seeking to unseat Congressman William Jefferson, who is under federal indictment.

James Carter, D-New Orleans; Troy "C" Carter, D-New Orleans; Jerry Jacobs, I-New Orleans; William Jefferson (i), D-New Orleans; Byron Lee, D-Marrero; Helena Moreno, D-New Orleans; Malik Rahim, Green Party-New Orleans; Cedric Richmond, D-New Orleans; Kenya Smith, D-New Orleans had all qualified to run.
