Around 4:15 p.m., an unknown citizen informed police that the boy, who is believed to be 5-years-old, was walking alone near the intersection in Gentilly Terrace, police said.

As of Wednesday evening, police were still attempting to locate the parents or guardians of the child.

The child is described by police as African American, having brown complexion with light colored blotches in his cheek – possibly a birthmark – wearing only a pair of khaki shorts.  The child said his name was Jahiem, police said.

Police canvassed the area for the parents but were unsuccessful.  Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
