Metairie woman allegedly kills ex-boyfriend

04:00 PM CDT on Sunday, August 17, 2008

Chad Bower / Eyewitness News

A woman shot and killed a man just before 8 a.m. Sunday in what investigators believe was a case of justifiable homicide, said Sheriff Newell Normand.

The shooting happened at an apartment complex at 3928 South I-10 Service Road.

Normand said Carol Beal, 26, shot her estranged boyfriend, Corey Paul, 30, twice in the chest after he forced his way into her house and went after Beal. Paul was transported to a University Hospital, where he later died.

Paul had called Beal before and told her that he was going to go to her residence and that she “would need the police to pull him off her when he arrived,” Normand said. A history of domestic violence between the couple was discovered through interviews with Beal, who filed a recent complaint against Paul for battery.

No arrests have been made in the case, Normand said, as the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office believes the homicide appears to be justifiable.
