It was Sneed’s twin daughters, Anna and Sarah, who were a major motivation for leaving public office, saying that she is was not able to be an effective mother and public servant at the same time.

"In fact two weeks ago, my daughter Sarah said, ‘Mom, when can I have a meeting with you?’ and that kind of hit me like a ton of bricks," Sneed said.

Sneed is leaving the Fifth District of the Jefferson Parish Council.

But being a stay-at-home mom wasn't the only factor.

“And then at the very same time, my husband and I were presented with the opportunity to buy, what I consider, our dream home,” she said.

Sneed and developer husband, Fred Heebe, will be moving out of Jefferson into the Uptown area of Orleans Parish. For now, politics will wait.

“I'll never say never to another political career, but until my children are away from home and you know flying on their own and out of my nest, this is where my priority is going to be."
