Eye on Fay: St. Tammany information

St. Tammany Parish has released the following information:

Based on information from the 4:00 p.m. briefing by the National Weather Service, St. Tammany Parish will continue to monitor Tropical Storm Fay but will not fully activate the Emergency Operations Center at this time.

Sandbags will continue to be available at these locations until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday:

Covington Barn, 1305 N. Florida St., Covington

Koop Drive, 21411 Koop Drive, Mandeville (under Tammany Trace water tower)

Airport Road Barn, 34783 Grantham College Rd., Slidell

Fritchie Barn, 63119 Hwy 1090, Pearl River

At this time, the National Weather Service predicts that Tropical Storm Fay will be downgraded to a tropical depression before reaching St. Tammany Parish.  Rainfall is expected in the 2 to 5 inch range.

The parish Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness will continue to monitor the storm closely and is ready to activate if necessary
