New Orleans Police are investigating the shooting death of a man early Sunday morning, said Public Information Officer Sabrina Richardson.

The incident happened in the 7700 block of Fern Street just before 3 a.m, Richardson said.

Investigators found a man lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds to the body; he was pronounced dead on the scene, Richardson said.

Police are still trying to identify the persons responsible, as well as the identity of the victim, Richardson said.
