Chad Bower / Eyewitness News

An 11-year-old girl stabbed a 9-year-old girl with a pencil in the leg three times while waiting for the school bus in Houma, said Houma Police Chief Todd Duplantis.

The incident happened Tuesday around 3:55 p.m. at the Legion Park Elementary School, which is located at 710 Williams Ave.

The 9-year-old girl had a small laceration on her left knee and two small lacerations on her left shin, Duplantis said.

The 11-year-old girl was questioned in the presence of her mother. Officers charged the 11-year-old girl with aggravated battery and then released her to her mother.

The pencil was recovered and saved as evidence.
