A hearing into the financial records of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN, was postponed Thursday after a civil district court judge ruled there were problems with some of the subpoenas.

Judge Michael Bagneris said Hurricanes Gustav and Ike caused some issues with serving defendants.

The plantiffs are national ACORN board members who are suing to get the organizations' financial records.

One of them, Karen Inman, says she was dumbfounded when she found out one of the founders Dale Radkey, who was not in court today, allegedly stole nearly $1 million from it.

Local acorn members say that was eight years ago and Radkey has since paid the money back.

They also add this lawsuit will not hurt their reputation.

"We know that there will be some negativity surrounding this but we plan to move forward,” said Vanessa Gueringer of ACORN. “We are in the throws of recovery with issues to fight for, especially low to moderate income neighborhoods."

The hearing is rescheduled for Nov. 7.
