Trick or treating, Mardi Gras style. The first ever New Orleans Halloween Parade is compliments of the relatively new Krewe of Boo.
"This is a long time coming, said krewe member Julie Slick. "New Orleans without a parade on Halloween, are you kidding me?"
In addition to a creating a horrific experience, the parade is also serving as a fundraiser for New Orleans first responders. All told, there were 17 floats that traveled the streets of New Orleans.
"We're going to raise money for a great cause and have fun doing it, that's what new Orleans is about," said krewe member Mike Montgomery.
Sponsorships and fees from the more than 400 krewe members will go towards the New Orleans EMS, and the police and fire departments.
"For me, it's a little special. I'm an emergency physician so if those guys don't do their job we don't even have a chance," said Slick.
Krewe members hope to make the parade an annual tradition.
