Employees at DA's office expected to receive paychecks despite frozen accounts

Employees at the New Orleans District Attorney’s Office are expected to receive paychecks Thursday – even though some of the office’s bank accounts have been seized.

The plaintiffs in a racial discrimination lawsuit who are owed $3.4 million from the office froze some of the D.A.’s accounts, but not an account that includes payroll funds.

The D.A.’s office laid out its assets and finances to the plaintiffs during a federal hearing Wednesday.

Attorneys for the D.A. are looking into possibly filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy – but the office assured employees it will have enough money to make payroll Thursday and will fight to continue to operate the office and pay workers.
